Yesterday I posted about how I repainted the hutch in our kitchen. You may have also noticed that the wall behind the hutch has been painted, too!
We went from a very brown space to an updated gray, which was done in a couple of phases. Just for the refresher, here’s that brown wall and brown hutch:
First, we painted the walls a dark gray. Next, we put up allen + roth bead board wallpaper from Lowe’s at six feet above the baseboards. The reviews were good, and it was not hard to put up, we managed to have it all up during one of Zoom’s naps. Here’s a look at that interim phase, with the dark gray section above and the white bead board wall paper:
Next, we painted the bead board wallpaper (it’s paint-able wallpaper) a light gray.
Because our home’s floor is not perfectly level, you’ll see that the wallpaper was also not completely even along the top.
To finish off the paint in the room we chose to go with a piece of gray trim. Here’s what it looks like with the new paint!
And because I can’t help myself, one more of the hutch in the kitchen, too:
Here is the break down of the colors we used in the kitchen:
Ocean Storm by Valspar, available at Lowe’s
Oatmeal (used in the mix) by Benjamin Moore, mixed with Olympic “One” as the base
Bright White by Olympic “One”
The lower section of the wall is a custom mix – I used Ocean Storm, mixed with Bright White and Oatmeal from our living room and dining room. I was going for that very popular “greige” tone that everyone is swooning for.
OK, so it’s time for the blog hop! Please link up and show us what you’ve been working on this past week. If you share a link, I’ll be sure to stop by and say hi 🙂 so please grab a button to help share the fun. I can’t wait to see what you all have been up to!

Love the gray! My parents used that same paintable wallpaper in their house. It looks really good!
